Gmc Intellilink Software Update
The automaker has made an software update available to them at no cost. The Android Auto system is available on 2016 Sierra, Yukon, and Canyon models with the 8-inch IntelliLink system. This upgrade can be performed by taking your vehicle to a GMC dealer, and it is in addition to other features already installed.
Picked up a '14 SLT a couple weeks ago. Started dicking around with the Intellilink stuff and was disappoint with its features as compared to my wifes 5 year old Ford with Sync. Now I know its tough to compare the 2 but WTF GM, get with the times. Game miami nights 2 for pc.
Anyways, I figured I would start this thread to share mods/thoughts/enhancements available or whatever based around the Intelllink system. 1st - AFAIK, the '14 version of the software wont read text over BT from your Android phone. I think the '15s up will. Is there a software update from GM that will turn that feature on?
2nd - Theres a ton of space available for apps on the screen. Are more apps coming? 3rd - Does anyone know if theres a way to see what the latest software version is available from GM?
I know where to find what version you have installed. 4th - I noticed the software is open source. Hopefully the software mods will come soon from neat people with computer skills.
The 14 trucks will not read text messages. There are no more apps coming. Press home, power, and menu down at the same time. A new screen will appear called the developmental screen, click on HMI. The very top one on there, the build version label nor one. It starts with a GMG, the last 4 are the only thing that matters. The latest software as of right now is N185.
You can also check radio software version from the developmental screen. Just click on tuner and then tractability info. Scroll down till you see audio soft version, it will be to the right. The latest tuner software is 000477 or 000478 depending on what tuner part number you have. These are just 14 model year software versions. There is aftermarket software for it. Like a navigation add on.
But it can void your infotainment warranty and if the dealer reprograms the HMI, well you'll lose the nav.
You can replace the firmware by entering developer mode and then going to the explorer mode in the developer options menu. EDIT: I have also mirrored the file on my MEGA in case it disappears or is deleted.
First off, I accept no responsibility if you brick your head unit you are going too need to modify files stored on it to enable Mirrorlink. Ok so the file should for all uk cars, even the russian one is incredibly similar. I recommend you use a stylus for this, (I used a pen with the lid on) 1) Download ClientAppInfo.bin from here This is the one I have modified from my Corsa LE so should work with yours no problem.
Check the fil, here, the sha and md5 should match SHA1 77720003DFD1E9476D8EA84FD800F2 MD5 0410F2CA7F0A959E3E39DF604416D5B6 2) Put it on a pen drive formatted to fat32, most likely what it is already formatted too. 3) Go to your car turn it on and wait for intellilink to start. 4) Enable developer mode, -Tap repeatedly in the top left corner unit a window appears asking you to enter a code.
