Happening upon Mernit's book in the local library, I picked it up about a month ago. I've been working on a novel, not a screenplay, but at some point I realized that the pacing and style I was going for was similar to a romantic comedy. It's fabulous. Mernit breaks things down carefully, uses many accessible examples, and writes it all with humor and a contagious enthusiasm.
